I have a client who has 2 companies I am representing. He is kind of a shady character, but has always been good with me as I have watched him cheat others. Chickens come home to roost, as they owe me almost $14000 and it looks like I am next in line to get cheated.
When you try to collect from a client like this, they sue you for malpractice. Likely I will have to swallow this one. Shit.

Likely you will never do business with him again, just file a lien and take it to court. You may never recover the money but you may end up with his 2011 GMC Yukon with 22" wheels and and 145,000 miles.

Sounds like you learned a lesson here about who you do business with. My earnest hope is that you now make sure he learns his lesson about who not to fuck with. I tend to think there is business value in that beyond what you recoup in dollars.

That is really shitty. You should never cheat the people you work with ( or anyone) cause then you won’t be able to work with anyone.
Sorry you’re going to have to eat it

Ouch. Sorry to hear that mate.
Some people aren’t worth doing business with or even associated with as you will eventually get screwed or be tarred with them.
Fingers crossed you get paid.

I’ve never understood the mindset of folks who don’t pay their lawyers. Of all the folks to not pay, it seems like the worst choice. To quote a close friend of mine (who is also a lawyer) “when swimming with sharks, always keep the one closest to you well fed.”
